Hi guys I've just upgraded from my ZEN DAC V2 to the ZEN DAC Signature V2 and ZEN CAN Signature HFM and I'm very impressed with the upgrade in sound quality  The sound now has more detail and a fantastic punch, I just love it.

Hello people,

I also have the Zen DAC/zen can signature combo...and I am loving the sound with the 6xx button...makes the hd 650 much more alive and crisp.

Has someone tried it with the 660s?

Did anyone here have the chance of comparing these 3 devices head to head: iDSD Signature vs iDSD Diablo vs ZEN CAN 6XX Signature & DAC V2 Combo? If so, is the ZEN 6XX Combo worth it above the portable iDSD versions for the HD650? Does the 6XX button really make a huge difference? How is the raw performance (no filters or tunes) between them 3? As I heard, both iDSD versions have better equalization memory than the ZEN CAN 6XX so in theory, it must sound better but at the same time, the ZEN CAN 6XX is a desktop unit so it should even that out and not to mention that both iDSD are single-ended whereas the ZEN CAN 6XX has balanced circuitry which might provide even more power than other two.

According to what I know the diablo sounds best out of three. But I haven’t heard the diablo. The idsd signature and the zen 6xx sounds unimpressing from my LCD2. But my hd6xx and dd iems sounds sooo good on my Zen 6xx . I don’t use the eq button because it sounds unnatural imo (and I always hate software eq too).

It does, yes. Also micro iDSD Diablo is tonally less intense than the other two products but quicker and more powerful.

Hi, may I Ask if the pro idsd/ican has the optimaloop technology from the diablo? I really love the design and the size of the Diablo but don’t like the idea of having battery inside. And how easy and available of the battery for replacing in the Diablo? Tks

Are your LCD2s the Classics or the new revamped version? Which dac/amp are you powering them with? Have you had the chance to try your hd6xx with the idsd signature? What do you mean exactly by unnatural sounding when enabling the 6xx eq button? Voices are more metallic, the soundstage is too open, and stuff like that? I thought the 6xx eq button gave it a more ’tube amp’ sound. Also, regarding the idsd signature, do the filters have much impact on the sound? does the turbo mode make it sound better? does it get heated up much when having long listening sessions of 2-6h? I’ve also read that the signature has a huge pop sound whenever you turn it on? Is it really a concern when it comes to the lifespan of the headphones?

Could you explain in which regard the idsd diablo is ’quicker’? I am also concerned like the guy below about the heat that can be produced inside the device after long listening sessions. Will it deteriorate the internals after 1 year of desktop usage? Is the turbo mode the only one that can give 5W per channel or the normal mode can do it too?

I would like to see a desktop version of the diablo at a similar price, to be honest.

Some may like the eq button on the zen. To me I am very sensitive to timbre and microdynamic changes. Yes while the eq button makes my hd6xx to have more bass and treble extension, it also brings out somewhat splashy sound to my ears (but I don’t think everyone will notice it like I do tbh). I don’t dislike the button I just prefer normal mode. My LCD2 is prefaz 70ohm rosewood ver

Devices that focus on resolution and openness rather than warmth and density we tend to perceive as lean and quick. Many our products are tuned to lean towards warmth and tone however. micro iDSD Diablo is one of the leanest ones we have, so in comparison to our other DAC/amps it can be seen as quicker and more open.

Most our products get hot at work, but that's normal and fine as long as enough space around them is provided, just so their enclosures can dissipate heat. As for 5W per channel, only Turbo mode does that. Hope this helps, thanks!

" not to mention that both iDSD are single-ended whereas the ZEN CAN 6XX has balanced circuitry which might provide even more power than other two. "
The Diablo actually is fully balanced with 4.4mm output and its full power is delivered out of the 4.4mm balanced headphone jack... its the cleanest/most powerful of them all... in fact its probably the best portable DAC/AMP on the market... Fiio just released their version, the Q7, but its still not as nice as the Diablo with its interface options connecting to sources via the USB input... got and old phone ?? turn it into a super DAP by stacking it onto the Diablo.... the Diablo amazes me how well it drives hard to drive headphones.... if you need to use it with IEMs then don't forget to purchase the IEM match cable...

Balanced design or output power specs, by themselves, are not guarantees of clean sound. I'm sure iFi's engineers would agree that they put far more work into the design than that.

That's affirmative. Quality is the combination of many things. Thanks!
