for tube ringing, this can help : https://ifi-audio.com/products/iematch-plus/ Dont hear the ring ever and background seems a bit blacker. But with FeiWan, volume has to go from 60 to around 90.- salwani8888

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
I agree, I think HifiMan's benefit from the slight treble roll off that NOS and Tubes usually give.- salwani8888

interesting question but I think synergy does come into play here too as well as which tube variant is being used. My RS8 in NOS into Auris HA2SF (with Prima Luna 12AU7) amp is really nice, but I prefer D16 (1bit dac) into Tsuranagi vs the Auris.- salwani8888

The ringing not often (like once in the last 6 hours but i am also not moving around). It dies down after a few seconds. The 'eeee' is more prevalent but its not noisy with FW. Its quite faint and not always there. If i plug in the power its louder then dies down.- salwani8888

Early hours still for me and just using on full tube high current with FeiWan, but really enjoying the SP3000T. Background is clean (when you arent hearing the occasional tube ringing or 'eeeee'-ing), dynamics, details, and FR balance is good. Bass is really nice with good articulation. Treble...- salwani8888

DX260 Digital Audio Player, a New avenue to your music. Preorders have started. Easily replaceable battery. NEW Firmware Update! 2.02
DX260 size and weight is a huge plus vs the other 2. Sound wise, Sony sounds clean and dynamic with good note weight. Amazing battery life and it offers the most options to help shape the sound. But its not bit perfect for streaming, doesn't have a line out. N7 I found ungainly and awkward to...- salwani8888

Headphone Auditions In Amsterdam probably has most to compare and they have the amp by Thrax as well which could/should be added to your shortlist.- salwani8888

in my experience, an amp will usually improve soundstage (size and focus), bass authority / grip and can reduce background noise (but not always-depends how clean the source is) I enjoy Ibasso D16 (Dac/Amp) on the go with a small transport DAP. It has nice pace, musicality. Neutral with a bit...- salwani8888

1) if I must rely on reviews : - youtube is not a good place to start - read reviews from different people but ultimately narrow it down to people who align with your preferences. People have different tastes, but ultimately trust yourself. - read between the lines, focus on the negatives...- salwani8888

RS6 is a very good but warm DAP whilst RS8 veers to more neutral. RS8 has more detail overall but for me the biggest difference was in the amp section - RS8 amp (esp in Turbomode) is more dynamic, bass/subbass is cleaner and offers better control of drivers. Imaging separation and soundstage is...- salwani8888

I can see your point clearer now. My initial perception of this thread was to showcase the best of what is available to a certain mid-tier price point - and my guess is that is where it would end up with cross posts that aren't out of place in both discovery and WC. Time will tell.- salwani8888
